What is Rogue?

Does Rogue offer only running programs?


• Rogue offers more than 50 training programs a year. Programs: triathlon, cycling, swimming, trail running, bootcamps, and core strengthening. Many programs are seasonal, so we encourage you to continue checking our website for a program that is ideal for you!
• The majority of Rogue programs are 'event based' - training and preparing you for a specific event, such as: Race for the Cure 5K; IBM Uptown Challenge 10K; 3M Half Marathon; New York Marathon

How much running experience do I need to participate in a Rogue program?


• That depends on the program! Rogue offers training programs that will take beginner walkers & joggers and get them comfortable running everything from a 5K to a marathon
• Individuals currently running three miles have sufficient training base to enter any Rogue training program
• Individuals currently running five miles have enough training base to enter our marathon program
• To join Rogue's 'performance level' class, runners must be able to cover 10 miles

Where do training groups meet?


Rogue offers convenient training groups throughout Austin - Central, North, Circle C and Williamson County. We encourage you to check individual programs for specific locations and times of training groups

How often do groups meet for training?


• Most Rogue training programs meet 2 days a week for group workouts
• Duration of workouts is dependent on program and will frequently increase as program progresses. Depending on the mileage covered, workouts will vary 50-90 minutes

What equipment do I need for a training program?


Equipment depends largely on the program and season. For running programs, participants will need, at the minimum: running shoes, socks, shorts and tech tee. A listed of recommended equipment / apparel will be provided to program participants at the beginning of each training session.

Do I need to attend every workout? Do training groups meet when it's raining?


• Attendance is encouraged at every workout, but not mandatory
• Workouts will take place in all weather, with the exception of lightening or extremely hazardous conditions. Your coach will make the decision to continue or cancel on the day of a workout

Are walk breaks acceptable in a training program?


Rogue training programs allow for walk breaks in most beginner classes, such as: Running 101, Half Marathon, and Bootcamp on groups. We will encourage athletes to phase out walk breaks as their training progresses.

What happens if I get injured?


Rogue has initiated a unique Athlete Support Providers (ASP) program. Knowing that as athletes, injury is an inevitability, Rogue has teamed with the best sports practitioners - orthopedists, sports massage therapists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, etc. - in Austin. Rogue ASP's are committed to ensuring program participants receive the most efficient service and highest quality care, should an injury occur.

Is there a cost for training programs? How do I sign-up?


• Yes, there is a cost for training, and will vary depending on the length of the program. Prices for individual training programs are available online
• You can register for a training program by simply clicking on the 'sign up now' button next to your desired program.
• Partial payment options are available for any training program over $150
• Rogue has a 'referral' program, where individuals can earn discounts on training programs for referring a friend!

MARATHON SPECIFIC TRAINING QUESTIONS

How fast do I need to run to be able to train for a marathon?


• Groups are divided by experience and goals - not pace.
• All groups will be lead by certified Rogue coaches. Each coach will assist you in training at a speed and distance appropriate for you.

How much training is required for Rogue's marathon program?


• Depending on your goals and level, anticipate running 3 - 5 days per week.
• Beginners will run 3 days per week, with 2 days of cross-training.
• Novices will run 3 days per week, with 2 days of cross-training.
• Advanced runners will run 4 days per week and cross-train once a week.
• Cross-training will benefit runners and aid in recovery from long runs.
• Cross-training such as: elliptical, water running, swimming and cycling, improves overall fitness.
