About Coach Dodds

I have two axioms to my coaching philosophy: Empathy & Expertise

You will meet some who are experts but they are not approachable or able to put themselves in your shoes. The old adage, "No one cares what you know until they know you care" applies here. This principle resonates deeply within my coaching ethos. I recognize that fostering a connection based on care and understanding is essential to driving transformative progress.

Furthermore, it's wonderful to meet empathetic, good hearted, well intended people but if they are not experts, they can set you up with a plan that leaves you injured. It's crucial to strike a balance by intertwining warmth with a profound mastery of running fundamentals, physiology, and training methodologies. The symbiotic relationship between empathy and expertise ensures not only injury prevention but also the attainment of optimal outcomes. In my perspective, the significance of one cannot be prioritized over the other; rather, they must coexist harmoniously.

That's me! That's us! That's Rogue!

What to Expect

The core of the coaching philosophy we bring to Rogue Rising is a focus on the process. Equally as important is a focus on community.

Commitment: You have to be motivated. And you have to be curious and open to the idea that there is always room for improvement. We will give you the plan and process to smash your goals, but if you aren’t prepared to commit to the work, then this isn’t going to work. You don’t have to be superhuman. In fact, we very much want you to be human, to be yourself. We will never give you something that you aren’t prepared to do, but you do need to be ready and willing to do it.

Consistency: Consistency comes in two forms. It’s about showing up no matter what. Get the work done, whether it’s hot or cold, raining or dry, and no matter how good or bad you might be feeling. It isn’t always perfect on race day so training in tough conditions and leaving your excuses at the door will make you stronger and faster in the long term.

Community: Running is only a solo sport if you let it be. You will be stronger, and you will reach your goals faster if you embrace the team dynamic. Lean in to the group through our virtual platform (Final Surge and Circle). Share your journey there including the ups and downs. This crew will become your run squad. They will hold you accountable from afar. Thinking of them will push you when you are struggling and will propel you to goal smashing even if it’s hard. You will become friends with them, and you will definitely become faster and better humans together.
